Led by Joe Tam and Irene Lau, the highly experienced team has been focused on banking and finance including cross - border financing for over 20 years acting for both institutional and private lenders as well as borrowers. They have acted on a broad range of onshore and offshore financing transactions with a particular emphasis on China-related transactions including advising on syndicated and bilateral loans, acquisition financing, debt restructuring, cross-border loan financing, onshore RMB loans, and outbound transactions between Chinese domestic banks and overseas borrowers. “We are very excited to have such an experienced team join Zhong Lun. Our new lawyers include: Joe Tam has over 20 years of experience in the field and specializes in assisting lenders in handling cross-border loan transactions between Hong Kong and Mainland China, outbound transactions between banks in the Mainland China and overseas borrowers, onshore RMB construction loans, loan restructuring and China foreign exchange and security issues. Joe is also a China-Appointed Attesting Officer appointed by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC. Irene Lau advises on various aspects of domestic and cross-border debt financing including acquisition financing, various types of asset-based financing, syndicated loan transactions and debt restructuring. She also advises on banking products. Irene acts for banks and other financial institutions and deals with regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Futures Commission. Stanley Chung has considerable experience of working on a variety of banking and finance projects; he also has experience of working in tax advisory capacity and in tax fraud investigation. He has acted for banks on various bilateral and syndicated loan facilities and on obtaining security in relation to loan facilities. Raymond Cai has extensive experience in advising on banking & finance, banking regulatory & compliance, M&A, real estate, and foreign direct investment. Raymond acts for overseas banks in strategic investment in and acquisition of domestic banks, and for foreign direct investment in China in various sections.
